The Australian sharemarket hit fresh record highs on Thursday as healthcare and financial companies led gains.
S&P/ASX 200 index added 37.6 points, or 0.5%, to close at fresh record highs of 8,444.3.
CSL and ResMed lifted 1.6%, and 1.3%, respectively.
Pro Medicus surged 8.7% following the announcement of a landmark $330 million, 10-year agreement with Trinity Health.
Major bankers also posted gains, as Commonwealth Bank lifted 0.6%, Westpac added 0.8%, and National Australia Bank gained 0.9%.
Major Wall Street averages saw declines overnight, with the Dow Jones down 0.3%, the S&P 500 losing 0.4%, and the Nasdaq shedding 0.6%.
Meanwhile, U.S. inflation data exceeded expectations for the second consecutive month, fuelling speculation that the Federal Reserve might hold interest rates steady next month.
On the bond markets, 10-year and 2-year rates were at fresh monthly lows of 4.377% and 3.963%, respectively.
