Trump Org to build luxury apartment tower in Romania
The Trump Organization will build a luxury apartment tower in Romania, expanding the Trump family’s financial influence abroad. Trump Tower Bucharest will be built in partnership with Romanian real estate developer SDC Imobiliare, and will be the Trump Organization’s first development in the country. The company plans to build more than 20 Trump-branded projects worldwide, which the family of United States President Donald Trump stand to directly profit from. “Trump Tower Bucharest fully reflects our unwavering commitment to excellence, luxury, and innovation. We are honored to collaborate with SDC Imobiliare on this landmark development that will introduce an unprecedented level of quality and service to the Romanian market,” according to Trump Organization executive vice president Eric Trump, who is Donald Trump’s son. While the Trump Organization released an ethics agreement for Trump’s second term as president, it does not prevent new deals in foreign nations. $1.5bn plan to create 10,000 apartments in NSW by 2030
The State Government has received a proposal for the largest built-to-rent development in New South Wales. Rent-to-Live Co, the venture founded by Scape Australia principals Stephen Gaitanos and Craig Carracher, has drawn up plans for the $1.5 billion development of the 2.2 hectare Marrickville timberyards as a part of a target to create 10,000 apartments by 2030. “The Timberyards is the first of many projects in our ambition to democratise the rental market. Sydney is our focus and with our scale and expertise in this market we believe we can make an immediate impact,” Carracher told the Australian Financial Review last year. If approved, seven apartment towers would be built on the Victoria Road site creating almost 1,200 rental units, including 115 affordable homes, as well as outdoor public spaces and retail and creative spaces. The project, which was first reported in October 2024, has won the backing of Dutch investors APG the largest pension provider in the Netherlands, and Bouwinvest, a property fund manager for the new vehicle which has around $1 billion in equity capital committed. Star’s Hong Kong partners cancel Qld apartment sales
Troubled casino and resort group Star Entertainment’s partners are reported to have cancelled the development of a tower at their $3.6 billion Queen’s Wharf development in Brisbane. Hong Kong-based Chow Tai Fook Enterprises and Far East Consortium were unable to undertake the development of the Queen’s Wharf Tower under “current cost or time constraints” due to cost increases and supply chain issues, The Australian newspaper reported. The two companies had advised the apartment buyers of the decision in December, forcing the cancellation of sales contracts and the return of deposits of more than $400,000 each for those who did not want to renew their contracts. “After careful consideration, we are seeking a 12.5% price increase while maintaining the initial deposit,” the companies were quoted as telling buyers. According to the Queen’s Wharf Tower website, the 819 apartments in the tower are sold out and early works have commenced. It was described as mixing luxury retail, dining, entertainment and accommodation with premium residences on levels 49-70 selling from $2.92 million $3.43 million. Gold-domed penthouse apartment for sale in NYC
A gold-domed penthouse apartment is up for sale in New York City, located next to the famous Flatiron Building. The 5,777-square-foot apartment that occupies the golden dome is being listed by Sothesby’s International Real Estate for US$25 million. Proceeds of the current sale will be used to build schools and preschools in Mozambique. The five-bedroom, five-bathroom property sits at 170 Fifth Avenue, also known as the Sohmer Piano Building, and was built in 1898. The property offers 360-degree views of the city from the dome, an open kitchen with skylights, marble bathrooms, a private roof deck and an iron-wrought spiral staircase. The Beaux-Arts building was designed by Robert Maynicke, a prominent architect in NYC in the early 20th century. “It’s really buying a true old New York piece of property…the cupola is iconic.” said the Sotheby’s listing agent, Lawrence Treglia. Having once contained various businesses,170 Fifth Avenue was converted into a condominium around 2000. The domed penthouse, which was formerly a loft, has only had one other residential owner; the philanthropist and entrepreneur Gregory C. Carr, who bought it in 2001 and renovated it.

Best Luxury Apartment Living Award won by Grupo Prato
Grupo Prato has won the 2024 Best Luxury Apartment Living Award for their new Montecarlo apartments. The Montecarlo Ocean View apartments are located on the Ocean Reef Islands in Panama Bay, close to Panama City and the Tucumen International Airport. Designed by architect Saul Bassan, it features six floors and eight exclusive apartments, ranging from 181-577 square metres. Each apartment has acoustic insulation, marble floors and floor-to-ceiling windows which have been soundproofed for privacy. The amenities for the apartments include direct access to a private yacht club, parking with electric vehicle charging, a rooftop pool and barbeque area with views of the ocean and a Jacuzzi. Grupo Prato has been established in both construction and project management since 1979. In response to the award they issued a statement saying: “We are thrilled to be recognised by Luxury Lifestyle Awards for Montecarlo Ocean View.
