Asia-Pacific markets traded mixed on Monday as investors continued to assess the impact of rising government bond yields globally.
By 12 pm AEST (2 am GMT), Australia's S&P/ASX 200 was up 0.3%, while Japan's Nikkei 225 fell 0.3% and South Korea's KOSPI 200 dropped 2.4%.
On Wall Street, major U.S. benchmarks finished higher on Friday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average gaining 1%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite each added 0.4%.
In commodities, ICE Brent crude futures rose 0.7% on Friday to settle at US$94.39 a barrel, while spot gold rallied 2% to US$4,608.07 an ounce.
Chinese equities were subdued in the previous session, with the SSE Composite Index ending little changed at 3,905.2. The CSI 300 gained 0.6% to 4,618.9.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index rose 0.8% to 25,698.5, while India's BSE Sensex advanced 0.8% to 77,537.7.
European markets also closed higher across the board on Friday. The UK's FTSE 100 gained 0.6% to 10,816.6, Germany's DAX rose 0.6% to 26,136.6 and France's CAC 40 added 0.4% to 8,484.4.
