Just when it thought it had solved one problem, another has emerged for Airbus.
The aircraft manufacturer Airbus has confirmed that metal panels on some A320 jets have an industrial quality issue, according to this Reuters article.
This came soon after Airbus issued an urgent recall of its A320 fleet because it found solar radiation may affect control of the increasingly popular commercial aircraft.
Reuters exclusively reported the European company had also discovered quality problems affecting the fuselage panels of several dozen A320-family aircraft which had delayed their deliveries.
But there were no indications that any had reached aircraft in service.
"Airbus confirms it has identified a quality issue affecting a limited number of A320 metal panels," the company said, adding: "The source of the issue has been identified, contained and all newly produced panels conform to all requirements".
Airbus on Monday announced the vast majority of its A320 passenger jets had been fixed after a software problem led to the grounding of 6,000 of the planes, according to this Investopedia article.
Airbus said fewer than 100 A320s still needed updates.
Airbus shares (EPA: AIR) closed €11.87 (5.81%) lower at €192.58 on Monday, capitalising the company at US$159.48 billion.
