Amazon's AI-powered version of the voice assistant Alexa is now available to the whole of the United States, as it moves beyond a restricted early access version.
The newest version of the assistant, Alexa+, is now available to everyone in the U.S., after launching a restricted, preview version last March, where customers had to either join a waitlist or buy newer devices to use it.
Now, Amazon will launch it for everyone in the States as free to try out or for US$19.99 a month to use ongoing, also included for Amazon Prime customers on an annual membership of US$139.
It is being pitched as the most up-to-date and advanced version of the famous voice assistant, to help organise families with calendars and schedules, online shopping, music and entertainment, all driven by generative AI.
