After almost a century of business, Adelaide's last remaining family-owned urban winery, Patritti, is for sale.
Founded in 1926 by Giovanni Patritti, the business has played a major role in South Australia’s rich wine heritage in its hospitality venues and winemaking.
For decades Patritti has offered a variety of quality products such as wines, sparkling wines, aperitifs, and non-alcoholic options, as the potential sale marks the end of an era for the industry.
In a statement, the family announced their difficult decision to sell the winery, alongside their Tatachilla and Blewitt Springs vineyards in south Australia’s Mclaren Vale citing a combination of factors including the challenging industry environment and succession considerations.
Patritti is currently helmed by general manager Justin Tiller. The brand’s chief winemaker is third-generation Patritti family member, James Mungall.
CBRE is managing the sale with the family’s Dover Gardens winery and associated vineyards in Blewitt Springs and Tatachilla to be offered in one-line or as individual assets.
Located just 12 kilometres from Adelaide's CBD, the Dover Garden winery is situated on four freehold titles and has a land footprint of approximately 1.78ha with a 1,500T crush capacity.
The associated vineyards are spread across 68.95ha, with 27.31ha planted to Shiraz, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon and Mataro.
“Due to the winery’s sought-after location and being a large land footprint in a residential area within Adelaide’s inner southwestern suburbs, it also lends itself to further development opportunities,” said CBRE’s sales manager Ned Looker.
The sale of Patritti Winery presents a rare opportunity for prospective buyers to acquire a fully operational winery.
Buyer will have the option to purchase the assets as a going concern, including the associated brand, labels, wine stock, consumables, business goodwill and associated plant & equipment.
“The Patritti brand is highly respected due to the quality of wine and longstanding family history. We’re expecting interest from wine industry participants seeking to continue the legacy,” said John Harrion from CBRE.
Stage One of the Expression of Interest campaign is set to close on Thursday 6 March 2025, if not sold prior.
