The Role
We are working with a well-established international financial services firm to recruit Indirect Tax Advisory Senior Manager for their growing operations in Warsaw.
This full-time hybrid working advisory role is based in Warsaw within the EMEA and APAC Tax team. We are a key function within Finance having responsibility for managing the group’s tax affairs over multiple jurisdictions.
We are seeking an experienced indirect tax professional to take responsibility for leading the indirect tax function, which will involve dealing with queries from external tax authorities, primarily in the UK, and providing indirect tax advisory services across the group. This role also involves supporting review of international businesses to document the indirect tax implications of intercompany recharges.

Key Responsibilities
- Detailed technical understanding of UK PESM methodologies including experience of sector-by-sector optimisation.
- Provide tax technical answers to ad hoc queries as they arise both internally, and in writing to external stakeholders such as HMRC.
- Provide informative, high quality indirect tax advice to all business areas.
- Build a good working relationship with HMRC and monitor the partial exemption position of the group.
- Advise the group regarding the indirect tax implications of any acquisitions or disposals.
- Management of and assistance with indirect tax audits and enquiries where applicable.
- Identify areas to improve the effectiveness of our indirect tax activities and initiate efforts to streamline and improve processes using the group’s tax technology resources.
- Working with the business to document processes and controls, including monitoring implementation of those procedures within the organisation.
- Helping to ensure the indirect tax compliance of the group is correct by reviewing returns, including overseeing the journaling process, liaising with the business and working with advisors to provide dashboarding to senior stakeholders.
- Performing key systems and process assurance reviews to identify gaps and indirect tax risks, and then work with system and process owners to rectify issues and define scope of governance and controls to manage future risk.
- Provide training to improve employee performance within specific functional areas (such as accounts receivable and accounts payable).
- Build relationships with important internal stakeholders and act as their business partner to understand new product offerings and transactions.
- To liaise with our external auditors to ensure smooth quarterly and year-end processes.
- Manage timely and accurate production of indirect tax returns in EMEA and APAC regions, ensuring GST and VAT returns are filed and paid on time.
- Conduct a continual process review including maintaining an up-to-date manual of the indirect tax return process.
Requirements
- Qualified CTA/ACA or indirect tax related qualification essential.
- Good understanding of international indirect tax issues.
- Previous experience of working in a partially exempt business essential.
- Management experience of staff (indirect tax Accountant and other tax accountants providing support).
- Previous experience of completing indirect tax returns and a strong technical understanding of HMRC indirect tax compliance/ indirect tax accounting.
- Excellent Excel skills and knowledge of finance systems (Oracle).
- Able to investigate and amend reported financials to remove known inaccuracies.
- A drive to fully understand the detail and resolve issues in the correct way.
- Ability to work autonomously and under pressure.
- Encouraged to automate or change existing processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
