The Opportunity
MaineGeneral Health (MGH) seeks an accomplished, results-oriented healthcare executive to serve as the Chief Operating Officer & CEO Long Term Care (COO). MaineGeneral Health is an independent, comprehensive, non-profit health system.
As a CMS 5-Star, MGH provides a range of health care services in a variety of settings, including inpatient, outpatient, specialized rehabilitation, mental health and substance use disorder services, special care for memory loss patients, community outreach programs, and senior living services.
Reporting directly to the CEO & President of MaineGeneral Health (MGH), the COO has responsibility for driving operational direction and improvement initiatives for MGH in collaboration with the CEO and Senior Leadership team. In addition, the COO has primary administrative responsibility for leading, directing and driving continuous operating performance improvement for MaineGeneral Medical Center.
The COO, through direct reports and in collaboration with other senior leaders, ensures that departments achieve budgeted financial objectives through continual oversight of business operations.

MGH is the largest private employer in the area and takes its commitment to the region very seriously. This is a time of great change and opportunity for MaineGeneral Health. The organization’s future plans include launching a new strategic plan in the Spring of 2025, completing the expansion of the region’s leading cancer center, implementing a new, system-wide electronic health record (Epic) in 2026, and continuing to achieve financial and operational efficiencies to ensure MaineGeneral Health maintains its status as a robust, independent health system. The next Chief Operating Officer will play a critical role in leading these major initiatives.
The Location
MaineGeneral Health is located in Augusta, Maine. Located on the Kennebec River at the head of tide, Augusta is home to the University of Maine at Augusta. Throughout its long history, Augusta has been a frontier trading place, an inland shipping port, and a center for publishing and manufacturing, and now, post-secondary education.
Augusta is conveniently located in central Maine, with quick access to the ocean, lakes, and mountains of the state. The Kennebec River flows right through the downtown area, which is home to many shops and restaurants.
