Oz Lotto is set to offer its biggest jackpot in over a decade this week, with ticket sales closing at 7 pm (AEDT) tonight.
It was 2012 the last time the prizemoney reached $100 million, and was subsequently split among four winners, meaning that if a single person takes home the entire jackpot this year, they’ll be Oz Lotto’s biggest-ever individual winner.
Up to a third of Australian adults expected to have an Oz Lotto ticket, which operates under Australia’s official lottery service The Lott, before sales close tonight.
In the 2024 financial year, more than $4.4 billion in prizemoney was taken home by more than 132 million winners, across a large range of games from The Lott, including Oz Lotto, Powerball and scratch cards.
“It’s hard to put into words what it’s like to tell someone they’ve won a multi-million dollar prize. Reactions we often hear when breaking the life-changing news include screams of excitement, cries of joy or bursts of laughter,” said Khat McIntyre, spokesperson for The Lott.
“A $100 million prize could mean early retirement, a new home, jetting off on a round-the-world adventure, or helping family and friends in ways you never imagined.”
