A special Bentayga EWB Mulliner, designed for Remembrance Day in the UK, is Bentley Motors' latest tribute to the Armed Forces.
With this bespoke special wrap, Bentley's design team collaborated with the colleague-led BeReady network to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day and Bentley's ongoing commitment to remembrance.
Remembrance Day commemorations honour military sacrifices in conflicts past and present. They serve as a poignant reminder of the bravery and resilience of those who fought for freedom and peace. These events also foster a sense of community and collective memory, ensuring that veterans' stories are passed down through generations.
The 80th anniversary of D-Day marks a significant milestone in remembering the pivotal Allied invasion of Normandy during World War II, which played a crucial role in the liberation of Europe from Nazi occupation. This momentous occasion serves as a reminder of the bravery and sacrifice of the soldiers who fought for freedom, and it underscores the importance of honouring their legacy through commemorative events and tributes. Bentley's dedication to creating this unique vehicle highlights the enduring impact of D-Day on history and the collective memory of those who cherish peace and freedom.
A map of northern France is adorned with 80 poppies. This symbolises Bentley's appreciation for those who served and their legacy. Each flower represents a sacrifice made in the cause of peace. It illustrates the journey from England's south coast to northern Europe on D-Day. Through historical symbolism, this is a powerful expression of unity and respect.
Robin Page, Director of Design at Bentley Motors described it as “a symbol of our collective memory and the sacrifices made by countless individuals. Every detail reflects Bentley’s respect for history, while looking forward into the future.”
This commemorative project is especially meaningful to Bentley’s BeReady network, one of five Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) networks. It provides a supportive space for veterans and acting reservists.
James Lynam, Functional Project Manager Body In White at Bentley, and co-chair of the BeReady network, said: “Remembrance is an important time for the BeReady network and Bentley, a time to reflect on the sacrifices of the Armed Forces. This year, with the 80th anniversary of D-Day, we worked together to create a design that honours the bravery of those who served, capturing the perilous journeys of soldiers in an instantly recognisable, powerful way.”
This year's Remembrance Car will tour the UK. Initially, it will be displayed in Crewe as a symbol of reflection and respect. The car will be featured prominently in Mission Motorsport's Race of Remembrance in Anglesey this weekend. During an event uniting a community in remembrance, it will serve as the course car.
The car returns to Bentley’s Crewe headquarters on 11 November, where Bentley colleagues will reflect. On 13 November, the car will be displayed at His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Cheshire Awards.
