On Friday, major APAC indices opened with mixed results following a strong overnight performance by U.S. equities, driven by continued strength in the tech sector.
In the first hour of trade, Australia's ASX 200 and South Korea's Kospi 200 added 0.6% and 0.2%, respectively, while Japan's Nikkei 225 slipped 0.3%.
In the U.S., stocks ended the day on a positive note. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) climbed 0.6% to close at 41,096.77, the S&P 500 rose 0.7% to 5,595.76, and the Nasdaq saw a 1.0% gain, closing at 17,569.68.
Among the biggest gainers in the S&P 500 were Warner Bros. Discovery Inc., surging 10.4%, The Kroger Co., which jumped 7.2%, and Axon Enterprise Inc., up 6.3%.
Meanwhile, the biggest decliners included Moderna Inc., down 12.4%, Enphase Energy Inc., falling 4.3%, and Wells Fargo & Co., which lost 4%.
In commodity markets, Brent crude oil rose 1.9% to US$71.97 per barrel, while gold remained steady at US$2,558.39 per ounce.
Chinese markets ended lower, with the Shanghai Composite Index dropping 0.2% to 2,717.12 and the Shenzhen Composite Index slipping 0.5% to 1,492.33.
Meanwhile, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index gained 0.8% to close at 17,240.39. In Japan, the Nikkei Stock Average saw a 3.4% increase, closing at 36,833.27, while India's BSE SENSEX added 1.8%, finishing the day at 82,962.71.
European markets also ended higher, with the U.K.'s FTSE 100 Index rising 0.6% to 8,240.97. Germany's DAX climbed 1.0% to 18,518.39, and France's CAC 40 gained 0.5%, closing at 7,435.07.
