China has released a list of United States naval targets that would be attacked in any future conflict.
The People’s Liberation Army’s electronic warfare unit produced the catalogue of targets which included radars, sensors and communication equipment, and would leave U.S Navy carrier strike groups vulnerable.
According to a researcher involved in the project, the locations on the “hit list” would take concentrated fire from China’s electronic warfare weapons, including the use of drones to confuse or overwhelm electronic warfare systems.
This list was revealed in the latest issue of Defence Industry Conversion in China, a magazine supervised by the State and that aims to encourage civilian institutions to participate in military research.
“This information can provide references for the development of electronic countermeasures technology and related equipment in China’s future naval battlefields.” wrote Mo Jiaqian, the report’s author and electronic countermeasures expert with the PLA.
