As the end of 2024 is fast approaching, it is time to start looking forward to planning getaways for 2025.
Booking.com surveyed more than 27,000 travellers from 33 countries to reveal the top Aussie travel destinations and found that regional destinations are taking the cake, particularly the King Valley which took the top spot.
The King Valley is one of Australia’s oldest gourmet regions and is only a three-hour drive from Melbourne, making it a great weekend getaway from the city.
It is particularly known for its prosecco and wine region, being home to Pizzini Wines, Chrismont and Brown Brothers.
Other Aussie locations in top spots include Amity Point, Queensland, Manly NSW and Sydney.
Booking.com also examined the top worldwide trends and destinations and found the top trend was Nocoturism.
Noctorism refers to travelling to experience the night sky and over 60% of the people surveyed said they were considering visiting destinations with limited light pollution as temperatures begin to rise, 61% of respondents said they wanted to spend less time in the sun.
Other trends include travelling for wellness, men-only retreats and alternative itineraries, using a mix of travel agents and AI tools to create itineraries.
The projected top travel destination for 2025 is Sanya, China, which offers year-round warm weather and pristine beaches, according to Booking.com. This destination allows travellers to experience the best of travel trends including noctoruism and wellness travel.
Other top spots include Trieste, Italy, João Pessoa, Brazil and Tromsø, Norway.
