Reuters and Gannett have announced the launch of a new content bundle subscription in the first quarter of 2025.
The partnership will create a new revenue stream for content syndication and expand Reuters’ reach in United States national news.
The bundle will include access to Reuters’ national and international coverage bundled with Gannett’s USA Today and local news coverage from more than 200 national publications within its USA Today Network delivered into one newsfeed.
Gannett media chief and content officer, Kristen Roberts said the new bundle will “empower” local newsrooms and will be offered at an affordable price.
“This collaboration gives other local bureaus and media companies access to reliable news and information, proven to drive digital audience, with an array of content from national politics and local breaking news to best-in-class sports and entertainment coverage,” she said.
“This bundle delivers a known market need, at a reasonable price that doesn't require a costly membership.
“We aim to enable brands to allocate resources to cover the stories that matter most in their respective markets.”
The bundle will include feeds of ready-to-publish stories, photos, graphics and video from both entities for media companies to license but will not include games and puzzles from Gannett’s newspaper brands.
The deal opens up the opportunity for Gannett to continue its mission to focus on digital subscription growth and advertising since they combined with GateHouse in 2019.
As for Reuters, the bundle will help expand its customer base to more U.S. publishers and expand its U.S. coverage.
“As we continue to invest in our U.S. news offering, including appointing Sally Buzbee as U.S. and Canada news editor, this collaboration with Gannett will ensure U.S. publishers have access to flexible, cost-effective solutions, allowing them to focus on what they do best – understanding their audiences and developing the stories that are most relevant and impactful,” head of Reuters News Agency, Alphonse Hardel said.
The price of the bundle is yet to be confirmed.
