Mecca, along with several other regions of the Gulf Kingdom, are flooded after being hit by heavy rainfall.
In the Al-Awali neighbourhood, southeast of Mecca, people were spotted forming human chains to rescue children who had become trapped in the flooding.
These regions, including Riyadh, Makkah, Al-Baha, and Tabuk, are bracing for further impact of the severe weather as the National Meteorological Center (NMC) forecast moderate to heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and dust storms continuing throughout the week.
The Saudi Press Agency reported it is expected the freak rainfall will continue until Wednesday, local time.
Multiple yellow weather warnings for rain have also been issued.
