U.S. stock futures traded slightly lower on Wednesday evening following the Dow Jones Industrial Average’s second record close this week.
By 9:25 am AEDT (10:25 pm GMT) Dow futures S&P 500 futures and Nasdaq 100 futures eased 0.1% apiece.
In extended trading, aluminum producer Alcoa surged 7.8% after posting adjusted earnings that exceeded expectations.
CSX saw its stock fall by 3.4% after reporting lower-than-expected earnings, despite noting growth in volume, operating income, and margin.
Kinder Morgan shares slipped 1.5% after its third-quarter revenue and profit trailed estimates.
During Wednesday's regular session, the Dow rose 0.8%, the S&P 500 climbed 0.5%, and the Nasdaq gained 0.3%.
The financials sector advanced 1.2%, driven by a 6.5% increase in Morgan Stanley’s shares after the bank reported strong third-quarter profit and revenue.
Investors will now turn their attention to Thursday's earnings reports from companies such as Travelers, Blackstone, and Elevance Health. Regional banks KeyCorp, M&T Bank, and Truist Financial are also set to release results.
Additionally, traders will be closely monitoring weekly jobless claims, September’s retail sales, and industrial production data.
