Apple is considering releasing an Apple-branded television, according to a report by Bloomberg.
The company previously considered launching a TV more than a decade ago, though the company allegedly scrapped these plans in 2014.
“We view television’s role in the living room as a strategically compelling bolt-on to the Apple ecosystem,” investor Carl Icahn wrote in an open letter after that device was abandoned.
Apple’s new TV effort will reportedly depend on how its next slate of home devices performs.
Apple is developing a wall-mounted smart home display, according to Bloomberg yesterday. This would monitor video calls and operate smart home devices.
This display will likely be announced in March, and features a six-inch screen and a rechargeable battery. It will include Siri and Apple Intelligence.
Google and Amazon, Apple’s competitors, have both launched similar devices, with Amazon’s Echo Hub being released in February.
The company has decided on a supplier for a future smart security camera, which would begin production in 2026.
A new AirTag model will be available in mid-2025, according to Bloomberg.
